25. Antique Oak Table with Pineapple, Symbol of Hospitality

This pineapple-motif solid and quite heavy oak dining table has an extensive history, having come around the Horn, and transported to Spokane via Walla Walla by an early pioneer family. It was subsequently donated to Spokane’s Booth Memorial Hospital, sponsored by the Salvation Army as a home for unwed mothers, where it was used as a conference table. The Millers have had it for nearly 30 years and many have been served sumptuous feasts and simple family fare on it here at Priest Lake, in the true spirit of hospitality symbolized since the days of the early American colonies by the pineapple.

It is four-feet square to be enjoyed by four people or as a game table, and extends to eight feet with four solid oak leaves, easily accommodating 12 people. It has five "Pineapple" legs that are approximately five inches thick, and a four-inch carved skirt. Imprinted on the underside are the numbers: 354 and 8FT.

Donated by: Joyce & Galen Miller
Value (appraisal estimated by Mercer’s Memories): $3000 - $3500
